DataCore: User Personas

The typical SANsymphony user is a standard IT Administrator, which we called Ian.  DataCore customers also work with a Partner channel, and while these partners have some different goals, sometimes the partner, which we called Pat, would at time function as Ian for the customer.

Persona 1: Ian the IT Administrator (PRIMARY)

  • Multiple seniority levels

  • Typical device used to administer: desktop with 1920x1080 monitor.  Console run at full-screen.

    • NOTE: with the increase in remote work, Ian may be using a 1366x768 laptop

  • Frequency of console use: ideally, not often.  Any monitoring UI would not be up on a NOC screen all day.

  • Emotions

    • Pressured, overly busy: Has enough other things to do.  Does not want to spend time managing storage.

    • Impatient: does not appreciate needing to become an expert in order to perform basic functions or to figure out where a problem is.

Persona 2: Pat the Partner

  • Expert at the product.  Been using it for years.

  • Same device use as Ian.

  • Frequency of console use: Ideally, still not too often, but more than Ian.  May manage SANsymphony for multiple clients in the same day.

  • Emotions

    • Confident: knows ins and outs of existing console.

    • Happy with DataCore: product is good.  Support is good.  Wonders why we need a new console instead of adding to the existing console.

Personas were built by speaking to partners and to DataCore solution architects who interface with partners and customers.
